As we head into our 2019 Retreat Season, it’s good to be reminded of why we do what we do. We got this today from Joe Gallagher, Virginia participant and volunteer, celebrating his 10 year cancer-free anniversary: “This is a great day in my life. I can’t begin to tell you how much Reel Recovery has and does mean to me. When one is faced with the Big C and goes through that journey it does certain things to you emotionally that most of us suck up and push forward and that few if any ever see. Reel Recovery allowed me to heal from that very thing and to this day be able to let it go when it creeps into my mind, which it does. I am ever mindful that I am still ok, but I don’t use the word “free” as there isn’t that magic pill yet. So, when it creeps in, I just pause for a few and see myself in the Rose River with the water rushing through and by me taking all that emotion away. I hope that all of Reel Recovery realizes just a bit what a powerful force we are in the lives of these men that we touch.” Thanks Joe. Be Well! Fish On!
